  1. Congratulations on the completion! He is magnificent. Big cats are majestic naturally, and you have that in the portrait. I was watching your progress and admiring your skill. I have a black cat that I want to draw for a while, but do not have a good understanding how to work black fur for realism. Watching your steps gave me some ideas - thank you!

  2. Beautiful work. The eyes say it all. I think the eyes are my favorite part of most of your drawings.

  3. Stunning! I must admit, during the early stages, I wasn't getting the positioning and crop you were going for, but with the eyes and nose in it works perfectly. I'd maybe go as far as to say possibly my favourite of yours to date!

heather and sue, many thanks,i'm so pleased with the way the eyes turned out with this one as they really do make the whole image work, perhaps more so than many other big cat drawings ive completed.
hi nolon i knew it would take a little while to have the image make sense and eventually it did but it has to be one of the toughest challenges ive faced in a while, havnt laid down so much graphite for ages!

  10. Sensational finish! This has opened up my eyes to the depth and realism that can be created with graphite even though I work in scratchboard. I have been inspired by your work to try graphite soon

Oh and congratulations on getting shortlisted for WAY!
