Wildscape magazine Wildlife Artist of the Year 2010

I am delighted not to say surprised to learn that i have won the Wildscape magazine Wildlife Artist of the Year 2010 competition with my image 'The Egret pool'.I had almost forgotten that i had entered the competition way back at the start of the year and didnt seriously expect a graphite piece to win and so i am totally chuffed at the prospect of this image hanging(virtually)in the Wildscape Hall of Fame.

Seeing your work up close at the workshop today and the incredible amount of detail you put in - it's no surprise at all that you've won! Well done and thanks for a fantastic day; I'm feeling very inspired to finish my cat.

gayle, thankyou very much and yes it feels great that the medium has been recognised as the serious artistic medium that it is and hopefully may spur other graphite artists to enter these sort of competitions in the knowledge that theyre medium will be taken seriously.
