Background developing

The background to this piece is slowly developing thanks to multiple layers of H,HB and B grade pencil.i'm now starting to work up the abstract shapes in the background that will serve to add a little interest and bring out certain areas of the dogs face.

This is going to be so amazing! it already looks fantastic.
I saw some of your prints a the Olympia Horse Show in London today and I have to say, they are phenomenal pieces of work! They are so beautiful and realistic, it was a please to look at them.

Oh I'm pretty sure this one's will turn out terrible [kidding!!!] :D.
I haven't finished reading your posts [I'm doing it backwards] but I'm hoping I could learn something. I'm just drawing for fun but how I wish I had your patience [and talent]. I'm always rushing it, trying to get it finished quickly.
