Do you blend each layer of your drawing? do you like lots of texture on your paper or no texture?

hi andrew,i only blend parts of my drawings occasionally otherwise there is no blending its all in the layering and pencil pressure.i like to use a blender when working with water and drawing snow but thats about the extent of it.i use arches HP watercolour paper which i immerse in water and stretch onto my drawing board and dry prior to use this gives a nice slight tooth to work with.i dont like smooth papers and i dont like roughish cartridge type papers.hot pressed watercolour paper is a nice surface to work on.

thankyou roger,you hit the nail on the head there.the image was based on a crisp,still autumn's day on the estuary here in warsash,uk with just the lone egret paddling in the shallows
