Congratulations on the completion! He is magnificent. Big cats are majestic naturally, and you have that in the portrait. I was watching your progress and admiring your skill. I have a black cat that I want to draw for a while, but do not have a good understanding how to work black fur for realism. Watching your steps gave me some ideas - thank you!

Beautiful work. The eyes say it all. I think the eyes are my favorite part of most of your drawings.

Stunning! I must admit, during the early stages, I wasn't getting the positioning and crop you were going for, but with the eyes and nose in it works perfectly. I'd maybe go as far as to say possibly my favourite of yours to date!

The dark fur really makes those piercing eyes stand out beautifully

alex, thankyou for the kind words and i'm glad that seeing this one progress has helped you with ideas for your own creation, this is what it's all about.
heather and sue, many thanks,i'm so pleased with the way the eyes turned out with this one as they really do make the whole image work, perhaps more so than many other big cat drawings ive completed.
hi nolon i knew it would take a little while to have the image make sense and eventually it did but it has to be one of the toughest challenges ive faced in a while, havnt laid down so much graphite for ages!

You have done a masterful rendering of the black coat. I love the depth you've achieved and the darkness that you created in the fur. Wonderful job!

Sensational finish! This has opened up my eyes to the depth and realism that can be created with graphite even though I work in scratchboard. I have been inspired by your work to try graphite soon

Oh and congratulations on getting shortlisted for WAY!

Fantastic work Clive, and I bet it looks even more impressive "in the flesh".
