Buster the german pointer is almost complete now, just some dark toning to add and a little more work on his coat required and then it's onto Tess his companion.
I admire your talent. Just recently I've started trying my hand at painting animals, mainly a cat and dog of friends of mine. Not too bad, but I've got a really long way to go. If you'd like to see my two attempts, go to: buffyeyes.blogspot.com
thanks everyone, glad your'e liking it so far grey, ive been working with these techniques for the last 12 years or so,its basically oil painting but with pencils:-)
That's some great work there man. What kind of canvas/paper and pencils/graphites do you use? (like oil painting but with pencils - ? soft graphites, almost like pastels?)
thanks very much all. paper is arches hot pressed watercolour paper which has been stretched.pencils are derwent graphics grades H thru to 5B. the similarity with oils is in the layering technique used as opposed to the nature of the materials.i used to oil paint using glazing techniques and i just applied the techniques to graphite art

The details are great. I love the depth of field and the harsh shadows you gave the dog. Great work.
