Completed Hare painting

As yet untitled Hare painting is now complete except for a few little fur highlights here and there. In this painting i was attempting to portray a Hare in evening light with long shadows cast by nearby crops and concentrated more on the lighting and the colours, rather than getting carried away with the detail.I think i'm pleased with the outcome, though,as usual, ive been looking at this painting for far too long to be entirely objective about it.i need to leave it alone for a couple of days now and look at it with 'fresh eyes'.The overall size of this oil painting is 17" x 12.5" and once framed and scanned it'll be ready for showing.

Hello Clive, This painting touches my heart. In my city and throughout my province, the hares are abundant, we call them Jack Rabbits(white-tailed jack rabbits).Seeing your Hare painting reminds me of the ones living in my own community and are a pleasure to watch. You have done a fabulous job on this painting. Thanks for showing it.

hi marie.i think they are such fabulous creatures and as you say its such a pleasure to see them.there aren't too many around my area and i have to go inland a little way to see them.they are quite skittish and will take off at the earliest opportunity and with this painting, apart from the lovely light,i wanted to try and convey that 'to take flight or not' moment.
