Giraffe and calf pencil drawing

My new drawing is portraying a giraffe calf standing behind it's mothers legs.i hope you can see the outline that ive traced from my rough paper to the prepared watercolour paper.conditions were a little dark here today with heavy snow falling and so i'm afraid the photos are not the best, ive posted a full length photo and a close up shot.so far ive blocked in the patchs of colour on the animals coat with H grade pencil and then worked them up individually, layering and adding in fur details with a B grade pencil.

The giraffe is my favorite animal. The pattern on the fur is coming along nicely. I really like the composition. Can't wait to see more!

Sorry Clive! I was so excited to read your blog that I forgot common courtesy to say "Hello." Your work is fabulous. You were born with an amazing gift that you have perfected into graphite brilliance! I am currently looking thru your past posts and intend to be glued to any future ones. I am so happy to have stumbled across your site. Thanks for sharing your work and by the way a big "Hello, I am so happy to have this opportunity to meet you!"

Clive it is looking very interesting so far. Sorry to hear you are in the thick of snow. We are having an unusually mild winter right now, not so good for the Olympics that will be here next month but great for the rest of us. Looking forward to seeing the finished piece.
